Since We Last Saw You
The fishing is as good as ever but as you can imagine we haven’t been getting out as much as we’d like. Instead, we used the downtime to make substantial improvements to theIntensity, polishing brightwork, cleaning the teak and interiors; servicing the engines. After that Capt. Mike Sheeder went to work on tackle upgrades. He traveled to Miami, Sarasota and Islamorada, Florida to visit manufacturers and suppliers. Being stateside gives Mike the ability to research the latest in fishing reels and terminal tackle first hand. He scored some great finds. Among the notable upgrades this season are the addition of Seigler OS (offshore small) conventional and Seigler BF (big fly) reels as well as the company’s lever drag reel systems. All are now standard equipment on theIntensity. We hope you will agree with Mike’s assessment: Seigler makes the finest big game fly reel available today. Speaking of terminal tackle, we all know that teasers play and intricate role in any offshore spread. They attract and hold the target billfish so you can cast a fly or pitch a hooked bait to them. We are very happy to offer a full assortment of Andy Moyes teasers and lures such as the Argus, Sumo and J Boy, to name just a few. So start planning you next Guatemalan fishcation.

Safe Travels and Hospitality Await
We are all eager to go fishing again but we do so with a sense of shared responsibility. Your safety and comfort are our number one priority! To that end, let us assure you we are doing everything possible to prevent Covid 19.
As always your home away from home is the elegant and welcoming Sailfish Oasis. This tropical (and aptly named) oasis is nestled in a gated compound within a secure residential community, just five minutes from the marina.
Because guests are housed in individual bungalows equipped with comfortable beds, luxury private baths and sitting areas, the new protocols that have come about as a result of the Covid 19 crisis have been fairly easy to implement.
For instance, instead of communal dining guests are invited to enjoy their meals at individual tables, all arranged at a safe distance in our open-air rancho. And instead of buffet style meals, our hostesses will serve your choice of appetizers, entrée and dessert tableside.
As for cleanliness, let me assure you that Sailfish Oasis has enhanced their housekeeping standards even further, retraining the housekeeping staff to follow the most up to date disinfecting standards. For instance they frequently sanitize surfaces such as tables and chairs, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, sinks, faucets, remote controls and more. Deep cleaning is accomplished many times a day for your safety and that of others. And for the convenience of anglers, there is hand sanitizer, disposable face masks and disinfectant wipes available both at the lodge and on the boats. In essence, everything possible has been done to assure you and your guests of a safe and wonderful fishcation.

Peace of Mind
We understand the current need for flexibility when it comes to your fishing travel plans. That’s why we have instituted a new policy regarding cancellations. For paid reservations booked by October 1, 2020 for travel to be completed by December 31, 2020, anglers will be able to cancel up to 14 days before arrival and receive a full travel credit valid for use anytime in 2021!
In addition, we have recently partnered with Global Rescue offering insurance coverage for our guests. For the added cost of the policy, anglers have the option of canceling for any reason. The policy covers medical emergencies, lost luggage and gear, and more. We recognize a fishing trip such as this is an investment that should be protected. So if you are interested in learning more, call for details and a brochure.
Again, we’re offering a full credit to anglers booking by October 1st of this year that if they have to cancel (as long as it’s within the 14 day time limit) for any reason, they’ll receive a 100 percent credit for 2021. So take advantage of this offer and get your trips booked now for a guaranteed fishing trip this year or next.

Final Thoughts
As we cautiously emerge from our homes after these many months of isolation, we all share a renewed appreciation of the world around us. Birds never sang so sweetly; a stroll through the woods brings smells of trees and green grasses. And hopefully if you can join us, you’ll rediscover what makes Guatemala the offshore fishing paradise of your dreams. Flocks of frigate birds and gulls scooping frenzied mackerel and herrings (that hold the promise of sailfish and marlin aplenty) are still working current edges just as they always have. So whether you’re dreaming of catching your first billfish on fly or your hundredth, Guatemala and your friends aboard the Intensity and Allure II are waiting for you. We’re ready to fish again and make angling history with every release.
