Dr. Helen Tang Sets New Women’s Fly Sailfish Record

On March 2, Dr. Helen Tang set a new women’s fly sailfish record, releasing 19 sailfish on fly while fishing aboard Intensity in Guatemala.


All fish were caught on 20-lb tippet under International Game Fish Association rules.

The achievement surpasses the previous record of 18 sailfish, set by Kara Weisman in 2012, also fishing aboard Intensity.


Guatemala’s Pacific sailfish fishery has long been regarded as one of the most consis

tent billfish destinations in the world, making it a prime venue for anglers pursuing fly-caught sailfish numbers.
